Here at Paddington Clinic, we have long supported people on their pregnancy journeys using natural therapies. Using a combination of naturopathy, acupuncture, massage, herbal and supplement support can be beneficial in ensuring that both you & your partner are healthy and giving your baby the best start to life possible.

We have already written about the recommendation of a 3 month pre-conception plan prior to falling pregnant in order to be in the best possible health in terms of regulated hormones, stress reduction, nutritional status of both partners and increased egg and sperm quality. Once conception has been successful and a pregnancy occurs, we further recommend a pregnancy schedule to support a woman’s general wellness, help her body and mind relax, assist with blood flow and circulation, and aid any ailments such as morning sickness, and musculoskeletal discomforts.

Recommended schedule for acupuncture throughout pregnancy;

Brisbane Natural FertilityFirst trimester – We suggest weekly treatments until 12 weeks to assist with circulation and any morning sickness, as well as to best support the body during the most vulnerable section of the pregnancy where miscarriages are more likely.

Second trimester – We suggest treatments every 3-4 weeks to assist with a healthy pregnancy, plus any musculoskeletal discomforts (back or pelvic pain).

Third trimester – We suggest treatments at weeks 32, 34 and 36 to assist with pre-induction and blood flow in the pelvic area along with assisting with the optimal positioning of baby.

Induction – We suggest treatments weekly from 37 weeks to delivery. During this time, we can provide information on acupressure points for your birth partner to assist with reduction of pain throughout labour, which you can read more about here. We also have further information on supporting labour such as healthy food and drink ideas for women in labour.

Post birth – Acupuncture along with naturopathy can also be beneficial in supporting a mother after the birth of her baby to boost general health, help recovery and assist with ailments such as mastitis, post natal depression, and problems with milk supply. Labour is hugely taxing on a woman, and she needs to be supported during this time so she can focus on keeping her baby as healthy and happy as possible. You can read more about how we support a new mother naturally here.
